Final expense insurance FAQ

01

What is final expense insurance in California?

It is a small whole life policy, usually between $5,000 and $50,000, designed to cover funeral or cremation costs, the last medical bills and the small debts that follow. The premium never rises, the coverage never expires, and the money goes directly to the person you name.

02

Is burial insurance in California the same thing?

Yes, burial insurance, funeral insurance and final expense insurance all describe the same product. The benefit is paid in cash to your beneficiary rather than to a funeral home, so your family can use it wherever it is needed.

03

What does a funeral actually cost in the Central Valley?

A traditional burial with a service in the Fresno area commonly runs between $9,000 and $13,000 once the plot, marker and service are included. Direct cremation is far less, often $2,000 to $4,000. We size the benefit to the arrangement you actually want.

04

Can I be turned down for a California final expense program?

Simplified issue policies ask a short list of health questions and approve most applicants the same day. If those questions rule you out, a guaranteed issue policy accepts you with no health questions at all, with a two year graded death benefit that returns premiums plus interest if death occurs sooner.

05

How quickly is a claim paid?

Once the death certificate is submitted, most carriers pay in a matter of days. We handle the claim paperwork personally for our clients' families rather than leaving them to navigate a call center.
